My take on love, letting go, and protecting my peace.
Treating Yourself Right
Recently, I've been trying to reflect on all parts of myself: mind, body, and soul. How do I treat myself? How do I treat others? How have they treated me? These are very common questions I ask myself, that regrettably, change on a daily basis. There are just those days when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, unknowingly bringing down others around you. While other times you are the one being dragged down...
There will always be people in life who bring you down. That's life. No matter how much love you give them, their love for you just doesn't reciprocate. When finding yourself in this world, you have to learn to love yourself first. Without radiating the beautiful one-of-a-kind creation that you are, how can you possibly learn to love others you barely know anything about? You are your own best friend first. You grew up with yourself. Watched yourself become the amazing person you are today. And all because you didn't give up on yourself.
Treating yourself right can mean so many different things, such as knowing your worth, expressing yourself, and appreciating every aspect of yourself. Even if you think you have flaws that chip away at loving yourself, just remember we're not made of stone. We don't crumble into chalky marble when nicked, but instead live more like the sea. Its wild depth and beauty are maintained through the violence that crashes onto the shore. It's truly remarkable. You are remarkable.
Letting Go
When you know your worth, be confident. Have fun. And learn to let go of the ones that only aim to bring you down. Listen to yourself. You will know when your body is telling you a certain person isn't any good for your soul. If that's the case... let them go.
You don't have the energy to be worrying about why they treated you the way they did. All you can do is control how you act in the situation. Show them kindness and move on. Even though they might not be in a place to love you, the world is a more beautiful place when you know you have the power to be the bigger person by being kind.
WHAT I NEED TO DO FOR MY:
As a visual individual, I find it beneficial to jot down my thoughts to gain clarity on how to nurture my mind, body, and soul. Whether it's a simple doodle in a notebook or verbalizing your intentions, choose the method that suits you the best and aids in your personal development!
There are so many fun and interesting ways you can allow yourself to grow and express your authentic self. Be mindful that there are people out there that aren’t able to give you the love you deserve. A lot of the time this is because they haven’t taken the time to care for themselves… Just keep in mind you don’t need to drain yourself trying to heal other people’s wounds. First, focus on what your mind, body, and soul is telling you :)
