Getting back into routine while bringing a new you.
Mental Readiness
Returning to school always brings about feelings of anxiety and stress for me. The tasks of packing, scheduling, job hunting, and readjusting to the routine seem never-ending. Waking up at 3: 00 am to send out an drafted email that was composed the day before. As summer comes to an end, my mind becomes preoccupied with school-related thoughts, and the ensuing chaos becomes increasingly daunting.
This year, I told myself it would be different. I would not let such a silly thing as school stress me out. If I've made it this far, why would I let it kill me before I even get to graduate?
I'm going to talk about some ways that help me manage stress, especially when it seems like it's the only emotion I'm able to feel sometimes. First, you have to tell yourself that life is all about your mindset. You can go through life thinking the worst and carrying with you the worst attitude to have. This not only affects you and your mindset, but it also affects the emotions of everyone around you.
Having a positive attitude in every situation can transform mundane experiences, like a dull class, into something captivating. Envision your life in a way that inspires you. Personally, I enjoy approaching my academic journey as if I were a character in a movie, channeling the spirit of iconic figures like Rory Gilmore or Elle Woods who are the definition of student success, all while fully embracing the college experience. As I navigate my last years in college, my goal is to to find my balance between my academic pursuits and social life, aiming to be both spontaneous with friends and successful in my studies.
Rebrand Yourself
There's nothing better than a fresh start when getting back into the grind. You probably haven't seen many of your friends during the summer, so now is the chance to bring a new and improved you! New clothes in the closet can be a good way to change up your previous style; however, rebranding yourself mentally and adopting a positive way of thinking can change the way you feel on a daily basis.
Rebranding yourself probably looks very different from the way others may consider rebranding themselves. It could look like changing your hair color, a certain clothing style, or any other way that someone chooses to express themselves! Be creative in any way you can! To me, this is the best time to experiment and allow yourself to feel more in control of how you allow others to view you.
Not only do I think rebranding can be a way to change your physical self, but also a way to encourage your academic success. Rebranding myself and my mindset helps me stay more focused in class and enhances my overall learning experience. By reevaluating my personal brand and making intentional changes, I am not only transforming my outward appearance but also reshaping my inner self.
This process of reinvention allows me to set new goals, adopt a positive attitude, and approach my studies with renewed vigor and determination. Moreover, rebranding serves as a powerful tool for self-motivation and self-improvement. It enables me to break free from any limitations or negative patterns that may have held me back in the past, paving the way for personal growth and academic achievement. Embracing change through rebranding is a continuous journey of self-discovery and development that empowers me to reach my full potential and thrive in all aspects of my academic life.
Treating Yourself
Indulging in self-care is an excellent way to start the new school year with confidence. Even something as basic as a new haircut can not only remove split ends but also eliminate any uncertainties for the upcoming year. For me, getting my nails done is a personal favorite. It's a self-care practice that not only indulges me but also boosts my self-esteem. By allowing yourself this indulgence, you are sending a message to yourself that you deserve to be taken care of and that your happiness and confidence are worth investing in. It's about recognizing your own value and making self-love a priority. So, whether it's a fresh haircut, a manicure, or any other form of self-care, remember that treating yourself is not just a luxury but a necessity for your overall well-being!
